Default can the crank and rotating assembly be changed in the car?

or do u have to take the engine out. i see alot of venders have the whole rotating assemblies u can purchase. i think im gonna go that route.i have a 2000 vette

Even if you could, it would be completley impractical. After removing the pistons your cylinders need a hone so the new rings will seat properly. Not to mention the new bearings will not be in spec. These are all things that need to be done on a engine stand. Every clearence on every bearing needs to be checked. You'd kill yourself trying to that in the car. Motors are fairly easy to remove, so I'm not sure why you would want to do that?

i never did any internal engine work but i did change my heads and cam myself. thats why i ask tryin to see if i can do this job myself or need to bring the car to a shop and have them do the job

Take it out. That is a standard thing to do when taking on a big engine project.

Some redneck down the street from me did this. He used a drill to hone the cylinders with the block bolted in the mounts...

It would be WAY more work to change rotating assembly in the car and it would be impossible to do the job right.
