Default TFS 215 and Pushrod length

Just installed my 215s checked my pushrod length and I got almost 7.4 my checker was about 11 3/4 turns which would put me at a 7.387 pushrod (Zero Preload). I am using LS7 replacement lifters. I have a set of 7.5 pushrods that came with the heads. I slapped them on spun the motor around to check using the EO/IC method. I got about 1 3/4 turns on my intake valve to 22ftlbs and almost 2 complete turns on my exhaust valve to 22ftlbs. With that being said I know I could possible go slightly shorter but I took everything off and checked my wipe pattern and it was dead center. BTW I am using Harland Sharp roller rockers. Just trying to get a feel with some of the other TFS people are using and if using my 7.5s is too much preload for those lifters. The heads are TFS 215s milled to 61cc I am using GM MLS gaskets. The cam is TSP Torquer V2.

If you need anything just let me know I have done a few cam swaps in my garage. This is my first head swap so I will let you know how it goes. I am just hoping that these 7.5 wont be putting too much preload on my lifters and grenade them.

I had to go with 7.550 as I only got 1/4 turn with the 7.5s but I only had the heads milled .010 with GM MLS gaskets & YT 1.7s. You might have a little too much preload, 1 turn is .050 & the LS7 lifters like .080 preload. Your valvetrain should be quiet though.

your post is one of the ones I was looking up while I was doing my install. I also was checking out the one from the other guy who ended up with really short pushrods. I was second guessing myself constatly during the measuring because of all the different people using trickflow heads and all the different pushrod lengths. I am going to end up using these 7.5s for now and see what happens. I will give an update after everything is buttoned up.

Just to give an update on everything since it was bumped. With the 7.5 pushrods and my heads milled to 61cc everything was perfect. Quiet as a H/C valve-train can be. Since then I removed all the go fast goodies and sold the Z28. Ran it complete for about 7500 miles.

Thanks for updating. I was looking for an answer to what pushrods to use with my TFS 235 milled to 64cc using yella terra UL rockers. Looks like the 7.5 do the trick, now just a matter of who to call n order.
