Default .015 piston out of the hole???

Anyone run a piston with .015 out of the hole?
I'm having problems with a motor and had to deck the block, well now the pistons are out of the hole .015. Im going to run a .052 or .058 head gasket to make up for the added piston height.

Is there any draw backs to running a piston that far out of the hole?

BTW its a nitrous motor.

Im not worried about either one of those since im going to be running a thicker head gasket. What im worried about is it bad to run the piston that far out of the hole????

I would think a best case for nitrous is zero deck (have to consider squish/quench though) to protect the top ring and edge of the piston... but the best solution is to have the pistons shaved so you get desired deck height.... my machine shop wanted $8 per piston...said it was quick and easy!!!

Well cutting the pistons down isnt an option. I've got $300 worth of coating on the tops of the pistons.

Okay... You'll probably be fine, but maybe just a little less than "ideal".

My nitrous pistons stick out .020. I am running a .064 copper gasket also. It is not a problem at all.

did you have to have a a receiver groove cut in the heads? Got any pics of the gaskets? Or do they have a webpage?

They do have a website. You'll have to do a google search, I lost the link. I don't have to have a groove cut, but I did anyway.
