thats exactly what I was going to say. You can get a full cam kit (springs, pushrods, cam) and an LS6 intake for about 1000-1100, but your not going to find a good set of heads for 200-300. Even if having the work done by a reputable shop, your still looking in the 600 range and up.

- Full Exhaust
- 4000 Converter
- Drag Radials
- 150 shot
That should get you close. Spend all the money you can on suspension.

First, your block has weak bolts from factory. then You need good heads to start. TFS 215 or AFR 210. save money on the catback and buy a electric cutout, you'll gain more. I gain 30hp opening it cuz my aftermarket catback sucks. my bud has stock slp catback factory on his ss and his cutout gaines 5hp. either way,you save $500 and you can open it when you want. rear end-12 bolt,a 9'' is heavier and takes more power to turn. All else you know, cam ect. the more the car weights, the more power you need to make. ALSO-I have a heavy car and more money they it seems your willing to spend and i only run 10.6 at 130mph n/a.

Yeah I don't know where some of you guys are getting these prices from, why don't you start with the bolt ons,cam /heads,intake,stall,and a rearend and work on the suspension a lil ,see where that takes you,and who ever said sts kit and a ls6 cam,I don't think that the stock block is gonna like the ammount of psi to get in the 10s,you got a lot of people telling you what to do to get there but I don't think your gonna like your 10 second car if it only last for a few passes lol, with a 10 grand budget you should be able put together a pretty solid car,but don't skip the lil things that might save you a lot of money, also your car has to be up to track specs, plan on a roll cage etc.good luck man, like I said if your doing the work 10 grand will make a pretty wicked street car

10,000! that should be easy. i got a buddy that has your same wants. his is a daily driver but runs his at the track almost everyother weekend and he brings the cooler in his trunk brings both of his kids in the back and everything. its an 05 gto and i know it comes with more power than an ls1 at 400hp but that car on the scale is right over 4000lbs!!! all he has is full exhaust , lt, no cats, running through magnaflow mufflers still lol! a k&n intake, a dyno tune, drag radials on some cheapo spare rims he got off of craigslist, and 100 shot off the line and runs an 11.54 all day lone! as long as you take the line off your bottle on the street u should be absolutly fine. hell just take out the bottle if u want to be the safest u can be. many different ways u can accomplish your goals just up to u to decide how u would do it. i think nitrous is the way to go for a daily driver. definitly tires. your usual bolt ons, intake exhaust. a tune is important for sure. getting a built tranny is really your most expensive mod. think about your rear end holding up. let us know how it goes
