wow...that will ruin anyone's day. have you considered getting your block re-sleeved? the technology on re-sleeved blocks is getting pretty good now and i know there is a sponsor out here that re-sleeves LS1's to 427 cubes for like $3000 or so. since you don't need the engine in the car, and you have time on your hands then you should look into that. that way you don't have to get an LS2 conversion package to run an LS2 block. also you could have yourself a forged 427ci LS1 based motor

Resleeving is not an option, lol. I'll upload some pics a little later to show you why. Took the driver side head off today, and let's say it's worse than the passenger side. Btw, no conversion needed on lq4/9 blocks. They are essentially iron gen III's and everything swaps over, except for having to tap for one bolt on the alternator.

thanks for the info on that black....i was thinking of doing an LQ4 block but didnt want the weight of LS2 conversion. as it seems it will just be the weight. but i am still just looking to get a cam only car for a while. now if i blow it or destroy it, then i will build up early.

Well got the passenger side head off today. Even worse than #6. And I did find two holes in the block. Not sure why it went exactly. But here are the pics.

Because if you have the block already you can do it a lot cheaper than 3K and have a much stronger block. Oh and still go more than 427 cubes. A sleeved LS2 can be stretched out to 500ci.......

Don't know yet, always wanted to go 408 w/ an F1A, we will see though

little over 100k. Only power mods were kooks 1 7/8th long tubes, ls6 intake, slp lid, and custom y pipe with a cutout. I've never used nitrous, and no signs that nitrous has been used on it.

I'd throw an LQ4/9 in it just to play with while you're saving for a monster build. It's much more fun to actually drive it rather than just looking at it.

If I throw another engine in there now that isn't what I want in the end...I'll just get lazy with it again. Now that it's apart, I can turn it into what I want and can get a lot done with the car. The main thing is now I can clean up the engine bay/underside properly. I can also start to dab into painting, something that I've always wanted to do. I really wanted to turn this into a project car when I got it, and now is the perfect time. The lack of funds will make me focus on the smaller things that don't cost as much and are labor intensive. If I was driving it....I simply wouldn't tear her down again to do it.

ahhhh the good ol days of blowing your engine up lol i did this last january 300 miles after a new 227/224 cam and freshened up 241 heads lol i don't agree with just throwing in a LQ block so it'll be driveable so you can try to save for it . . . think how much you spend a month in gas when the car actually runs? then think how much more OT you'll have to get or how much longer the car won't be where you want it to be just my .02
