Default 6.0 Swap Question

I was told I need ls1 timing cover and rear cover for a 6.0 swap is that correct? Why would I need to use an ls1 cover on a 6.0 if I already have 6.0 covers that fit?

And what else would I need for the 6.0 swap besides accessories. I know I need a pan, pick up, windage tray, am I missing anything?

i too am about to do an lq9 swap. i have my ls1 to use all the parts from. through searching i've found that there are a few people that are a bit lost on this topic. maybe someone with some know how could chime in and break it all down for us. what needs to be done to the lq9 prior to install ie:sensors/accessories/covers whatever.

everything from your fbody is a direct bolt in... you only need to drill ant tap one bolt for the alt bracket

I think its an Lq swap, the ls2 needs more changes to switch over. But no need to tap the bolts that are there is fine enough(alternator). Looks like you are set, everything ls should go over just need the block.

you really need to tap the one bolt so you can have 2 of the 3 on the front if not you only have 1 on the front and the side bolt... deff worth the 5min of time to do it the CORRECT WAY

Yes, difinitely, if you want to make absolutely sure it is worth the time.

I will also say two holes have been proven to stay on for years, 6 years plus on cars with just the two bolts. It is safe. But I agree, some would not do it that way. Like so.

Its an Lq swap and someone who did the swap told me I need to take my timing cover and rear cover from my ls1 and swap it on my Lq block. Doesn't make to much sense to me.

the sensors are the same. its basically an ls1 engine just an iron block and bigger bore. I was told i needed to swap covers by someone i'm not even sure why that would make sense. they are probably the same covers anyhow. As far as i know the sensors are the same except for the difference in intakes the sensors maybe located in different spots
