Default Cam only, waste of time?

I am trying to decide to just do a cam in the spring or just bank up for the next year and do cam and heads. I'm definately going to do a 3200 stall and 3.73 for now, not looking for a race car just a fast weekend toy

Considering there's about 9milliontrillionzillionkabillion threads on here about cam only cars making good power, I'd have to go out on a stretch and say no. It's not a waste of time.

Read before posting. You'll be amazed at what you find.

My car has a 3200 stall and 3.73's and it's alot more fun with the cam. Haven't dynoed the car to see the actual hp gain but you can feel a big difference.

cam only is not a waste of time, but i would look into doing an exhaust system first. Ported stock heads are also a good option if your on a budget can pick up some power when you do the cam.

Doing a cam swap is also Alot less of a pain in the *** then doing the heads IMO. There's alot of healthy 400rwhp cam only cars out there so the stock long block can make good power with a decent cam.

Bullshit. I dropped more ET with a 3600 high stall than I did with my cam

I plan on beeing in the mid to low 11s next year ,mines a 99 ss m6,full bolt on,ms4,12 bolt 4.56 gears, and some suspension and tires,I have seen guys in the mid 11s with a ls6 cam,but its all it having it set up perfect, right gears, geeting it to hook up,and on a bigger cam or if your shifting higher rpms ,rods bolts is a good idea, you can say cam only but to get it running good there's more to it than just a cam, this is more for the people who think they can put a t rex in and run 10s lol

The more you do to move air in and out of your motor, the more fun it will be.

Do the cam only, and when you have a chance to do heads, it will be much more fun,

The down side will be the tuning costs

Just make sure ya get what ya want, call texas speed, they will set ya up right,I don't know if its still going on but they had a really good sale on the cam kits, you will be happy with those mods for awhile, and then when that gets old you can do heads, and you should start thinking of a rearend at some point,
