ss3600 or ss4000?
but doesnt an auto lose a bit of top end with a bigger stall? like i said as much as people are quick to say 4000 stall, ive seen a few cars run very small stalls. Like i said ive seen guys with 3600 stalls and smaller.. Heck, there was a guy running a 408 or 427 with a 2800 stall for the track..

an aftermarket stall should not lose any topend ie mph...if anything it should gain, even the big 4000+ stalls will be as efficient if built right...
also look at what the guys with the smaller stalls run at the track vs the bigger stall guys...

I personally gained 1mph when I went from stock to the ss3600 and now with the ss4000 I lost nothing...I know fuddles used to be hit or miss, some lost no mph why others were dropping 2mph on the topend to gain in the 60ft...the $ difference is well worth it...

Generally speaking the higher the STR the less efficient up top the stall will be. The trade off is a higher STR will hit harder off the line because it has more torque multiplication at the rated stall speed. Stall speed and STR are not related. Ex. my Yank SS3600 has a 2.5 STR and IIRC the Yank PT4000/4400 has a 2.2 STR and are VERY efficient up top.
I have a vig 3200. I have had it for 3 years now with no problems. Drives so much like stock. I talked to PI and their vigilante 3200 is really like a 34-3500 stall. I cant remember the STR as i had the cam and stall done at the same time.
I want to step up to a bigger stall. But i got plans on spraying and wonder if i should keep my vig 3200. The last few magazines ive seen with shops putting in a vigilante, it was either a 2800-3000 stall..
