Default Is stall ESSENTIAL with EPS cam 222/226?

I am wanting to do a cam swap and have heard good things about this EPS "baby" cam. I was wondering though would I be able to run this cam with just my factory stall? I plan on getting my transmission rebuilt/built in spring of next year so it's not like it would be long without it. Or should I just wait on the cam?

necessary? No....Beneficial and Essential? absolutely...a stock LS1 needs a higher stall...Basically your cammed car wont run to its fullest potential with out a stall...

What rear gear do you have currently. IF running a 2.73's you may notice that the car is being held back. IF you have a 3.23 thats a little better. Over all you should get a stall converter as soon as possible as it will help the car be more optimal.

Back in the LT1 days for me, I ran a stock stall on a GM HOTCAM and just putting a SMALL stall (2800), the car was a total different animal off the line and still have phenominal throttle response.

FOR LS cars you can do something in the high 3000's, low-mid 4000's with a good company and really see a difference.

Just be mindful of the budget and for a cam swap, you should be OVER 1,000$ between parts, misc fluids/gaskets, and tuning. This does include doing your own labor.

Might as well throw that out there for you to chew on when taking on this sort of project as stall converters and cam choices go hand in hand.

I woiuld say install the cam and get it tuned, then drive it around and see how you like it. That cam is pretty small and the stock converter although small will retain great fuel mileage. if that isn't enough you can always get a stall down the road. A yank 3200 is a great street converter.

Well like I said a new transmission/stall would be going in sometime around spring time so I would be looking at maybe a couple of months with out one. I know I wouldn't get the FULL potential out of the cam until then, I was just wondering if it would be such a difference that I should just wait and try to do it all with in the same month.
