That depends on a lot of factors, so there really isn't a specific right or wrong answer. Some people have done over 12:1 on pump gas, but others say you're giving up a lot of power because you have to compromise the tune to make it work. I'd say 11:1 is a good number.

You need to find the compression ratio calculator on this site (someone on here built it) and plug in your numbers... You'll want to find your dynamic ratio, that will be more important than the static ratio.

Shoot for 8.7 but 8.5 is perfect IMO because if you get bad gas etc...you have wiggle room...

I second the 8.5 DCR, which could be all over the place for a SCR number.

FYI, I am at 11.5:1 SCR and 8.3:1 DCR

I wouldn't go that far. SCR and DCR go hand in hand. I really don't think one is any more important than the other.

For example, say you're wanting to get a DCR of 8.5:1. If that's all you were worried about and you don't pay equal attention to the SCR, you could easily end up with a lame *** engine. Why?

Wink

I'm interested in SCR and of course this is a strip/street engine, carburated, using good fuel pump, proper cam, with 11:1 SCR, manifold, etc..
so i think 11.5:1 is good
thanks guys
