arp head blots?
recently bought some arp heablots off a guy, and iv been loking around and all the ones i see are black, yet mine seem to be more of a normal metal color.
i dont know what the stock ones look like but i was wondering if there is a way to tell if they are ARP or not

they look just like these... they even have that orange stuff around the threads.
i dont care if they are ARP or not really, i just need some that work... and from what iv read the stock ones are TTY, so does that orange stuff mean that they were used?

No. The "orange stuff" is thread locker. That would come off inside the hole if they were used. Make sure you have the right ones for what you are doing. Those pictured are for the LS2 and or 04 and up engines. Meaning the "long bolts" are all one length. If yours ONLY have 2 of the same length bolt per head and the rest are really really long, then you need the other style. Make sure they match accordingly.

No. If you have a 99 and its the stock engine, all your headbolts are not the same length. You will have 2 head bolts per side that are shorter. The one on the front and rear of the head. So 4 total. Unless you have an LS2, a late model LS1/6 or a late model Iron block in it, they are 2 diff lengths. That is the only explanation. GM did not start this all one length design until ~04
If I read what you wrote again, it may mean that the bolts you got match up to the bolts that came out of your engine? If that is so, then just regard my prior paragraph for information only.
