Do valves close when a car sits?

Do valves close when a car sits? Not sure on lifter plunge depth, but I'm just curious..... Do the valves close all the way when a car sits due to lifter bleed-down? I don't think they'll close a full .640" lift.

Hmmm.. Just never gave it a thought for some reason.. Was thinking about this and when I torqued the rockers down on the past could cars. The valve still opened, but closed a little once the lifters bled down.
I guess I answered my own question, in a way.. Just jogged my memory I guess. Got my intake off and stuffed heavy steel wool in the intake ports. The rats and varmints won't bite through it. I've had a rats nest in my intake valley before.. NO idea how they got in there.

No they don't close. If you are wanting to store the car, pull the valve covers off and loosen the rockers up. This will allow the valves to close and take the load off the valvesprings.

This is an April fools thread right? this can't be a serious question.
I've stored plenty of cars and never found a rat/mouse/racoon/dog/deer/donkey nest in anything I own if stored properly. Maybe it's just me and I'm magical. But why the hell would you shove steel wool in an intake runner? Put a metal block off plate where the TB is if you're that concerned about "varment"
