Comp Cams Trunion upgrade potential problem

just did this last nite, very easy. 14 went butter smooth and 2 had problems. I pushed bearing back out and re-installed so i'm guessing install error but they all are good now. now to get them on car. also my kit came with rocker arm bolts. I used a 22mm socket, long 8mm socket and hammer. The kit came with washers and I just put in vise to assemble, about the easiest thing ive done to car. ordered kit from summit

well i ordered a set the other day
now im not so shure
they must be made in some asians back yard
have comp fixed thise problum 1 year on down the track ?

I did my upgrade this winter with out any issues. I kinda think that it is hit and miss.

I would be interested in if any of the vendors that sell stock rockers w/ this upgrade have had these problems.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but I just ordered a set from TSP that will be delivered Friday. I will update on current packaging as well as install results.

This may be too old now and could either be resolved/or everyone is tired of hearing about it. Nevertheless, I'll post my findings.

AS it happens i just got a set last week and fitted them yesterday
easy as to do with the install (washers) spacers that come with the kit

absolutely NO problems with tight or notch ones ,and no side or wobbly play
i'm shore if you can change a spark plug you could do this successfully ,now they have the spacers to go on the ends ,
when pressing them on you don't need any thing else except a flat surface to press on and punch to punch out the old trunnion about 1/4 one end 5/8 the other end and a pair of SMALL NOSE circlip pliers
i didn't even use the hydraulic part of the press just the positioning wheel
winding it down was enough pressure to push them in
its very easy

Just got my kit and assembled them a few days ago. No problems with the bearings, they are all smooth as glass.

As mentioned, the kit includes 2 large spacer washers to use during the assembly.

Bringing up this old thread....I just found out this issue IS INDEED INSTALLER ERROR.

I just got my rockers done and 2 were tight and notchy. Thinking back to the same issue I had with U-joints and the bearing caps, I measured the gap between the snap ring and the body. Sure enough one side has more clearance than the other. Pushed the bearing cup out so slighty, and BAM! The trunnion rotates smoothly. When using the washers, don't press too hard.

You are speaking for yourself here. My issue was an out of spec set product. One they were replaced the problem was solved.
