Well car is finally going to have tranny rebuilt and put my ss3600 in as well. So being that I'm a new b at this I need some help choosing a cam...
Car : 01 z28 4a. 84k on it. Basic bolt on mods.
Does not see the track just want a nice street car. I looked at the t Rex cam any other suggestions?? I've seen some kits for $500 or so...
I though about having a shop install the cam but I do have a friend who's very mechanic oriented and offered to help with the install. Is it too hard of an install?? I know Theres a write up on ls1 howto.. Just wondered if we should give it a shot and install it r have a shop so it.

consider a tsp 224r-228r cam kit ,or a EPS 222/226 cam,or a tr224 cam.make sure to flush out your tranny lines and rad cooler before a install.go to ls1howto.com for good instructions.

The t rex,and every other big cam are great cams, but some other things to think about ls7 lifters,a rearend with a very high gear, and a lot more cost of a tune, and even then you can still have issues with bucking,at low rpms and surging, trust me you will like something in a mid 230 range,I have a ms4 in my car and I love it but on stock gears it was slugish down low,on a street car you want something with a good power band, yeah my car pulls like crazy up top but you will be spinning it to the moon lol,and if your planning on that rod bolts would be good move,

As for the cam install if you know someone that has done it before or is very mechanical go for it,you will learn a few things in the process, and save the 8 ,900 bucks to go towards a tune, good luck man I suggest you call texas speed they will set ya up with something you will be happy with,

Those are like sentences that never end.
I would stick with something in the 228 to low 230's range. Combined with the stall you will have a very fun street car. It will definitely require tuning.
