Default LG cam selection

I have an 02 ws.6 it has 80xxx miles. Current mods are pacesetter long tubes, lid and k&n filter and tb bypass. Im ready to put a cam in it and i know i want the LG cam but i dont know which of the two i should get. here they are with the specs.

G5x1 228 232 on a 112 lope OR,
G5x3 232 240 on a 112 lope

Im scared of going too small so im leaning toward the G5x3 but i dont want it to be too big for my everyday driver.

thanks

I'm assuming you are a M6? I would look into a set of 4.10s to compliment whichever cam you go with. I feel like the stock 3.42s are kinda long winded even on stock cars. As far as the cam selection, I am running a Cam Motion that is very similar to the x1 and it moves out really well. Street manners will be good with that cam, but it will still make great power. There is a thread in the dyno section about a Comp 228/232 done by Spartan performance that may be of interest, as the specs of that cam are very close to the x1. I would expect similar numbers from the x1

the x3 will cost you some low end power.

I have had the G5X1,X2,X3 and X4 cams from lg in my ls1. I went too small with the x1 and kept going bigger. I was suprised on how i kept going bigger, but the cams still drove nice. For performance, the x3 cam was to best over all of them. It drove just like the x2 but made more power and pulled harder. The x4 cam only made a 5hp gain and is not worth the extra wear on the valve springs for 5hp. If you are torn between the two,the x2 makes more power then the x1,pulls harder and drives nice with a tune. Also,if you get it on a 114lob,it will still sound tough at idle but drive better for a daily. My car is a m6 and i do have 4.11's in the rear. If you don't have them and think it's too much 3.73 were pretty good when i had them.

I had a friend that had the X3 in an 02 (M6) w/stock heads, Long Tubes, ORY, hooker catback Tune and Lid.

It threw down 418 rwhp and trapped like 118-119mph in the quarter. It ran hard and sounded good.

Yeah I had both the x3 and x4. The x4 did barely make little more power. I loved the x3 and Im stuck on LG products

Sounds very close to my old '01 z28. With full bolt-ons and x3 cam made 421/395 through a m6. Also trapped 119-120 in the 1/4. It ran pulled like a champ!! Oh and I daily drove it with no problems at all. Good luck

The G5X1 is the best all around street cam IMO. If your car see's more than 75% street time, use this cam. If the car is drag raced quite a bit, get the x2 and a bare minimum of 4:10 gearing.
