Just went through the same myself over the last week.

Assuming you have modifications to the engine (cam etc).

What i did was disconnected the coil wires (no spark getting to engine), cranked it over for around 15 seconds or so. Purely to get the oil pumping around only.

Straight after fired it up (literally) started on first kick let it run for 5 minutes.

Checked for leaks, temperature etc then shut it down.

Then trailered it to the dyno tune to get run it tuned etc, as i have a warm cam and extra comp etc.

I didnt want to run the risk of running it too long without having all the settings changed.

Should get the car back tomorrow with my results

Good luck

Jamie

Thumbs up

sounds good feel free to let us know what the results are.

i was thinking if i would disconnect the fuel pump when i prime the oil pump there wouldnt be any gas pumping into the cylinders, im not shure if that wold be better or not.

the main mods are tsp cam, ls6 intake, and long tubes if that helps for any reason.

Quick and easy, to disconnect the 2 coil plugs on either side of the bank, takes less than 30 seconds, no guesswork

My tuner rang me today, is bedding in the rings etc, all is going well, should get my RWHP/KW tomorrow, less than 400HP/300KW i would be disappointed, but at the end of the day it is a number, it is how the car drivers that is important.

Remember when you have done the first hour or so, dump the oil and filter.

Let us know once you commence the run in process. Are you tuning it or running it in yourself?

Make sure you have a Fire Extinguisher handy. Fiberglass burns quick.

alright this is for anyone who wants to know the steps i used. everything worked out great.

keep in mind that i had drained all fluids. i also reset the pcm prior to doing everything by pulling the two fuses for 30 secs and then putting them back in.

1. i put oil in the motor and a zinc additive that helps with engine breack in.

2. fill the coolant resevor the the mark

3. i pulled the two fuses that activate the fuel pump

4. crank the motor for 5 seconds to build oil pressure

5. plug the fuel pump fuses back in

6. start it. mine started right up i let it run for about 20 seconds and then turned it off to check for any leaks

7. start in up again and let it run untill it heats up and the thermostat activates (my c5 is just over 220 deg.)

8. while letting it run i was checking for leaks, watching oil presure and just making shure that everything was working right.

9.after the thermostat kicked in i had to added a little more coolant, i checked the oil to make shure it was clean. i started it and let run to see that the cooling system was working.

10.then i took er out for a spin.
