Same thing happened to me. Is your install height correct?
The local machine shop set my install height at 1.81 instead of the 1.72 it should have been. With in 500 miles the car started smoking. Because of valve float the inner spring was spinning, grabbing the seal and pulling it off the head.
As mentioned make sure you use right right seal. I am running comp 921's and used stock GM seals and they cleared fine.
