As was just posted if you have broken the block no need to pull the pan...you now have junk under the hood...pull the engine ... check you local salvage yard and find another engine.

Well my junk is running again, I had it far enuf togther i figered id just run it and see what happends, looking at another block it looks like it poped the hole straight into the crank case so it wont hurt anything as long as whatever broke off doesnt cause a problem inside the engine. Had it idleing for 5 min and heard no knocks, no water/oil leaks, and no water in the oil.. yet. The worst that could happen is me having to get another engine anyways so guess time will tell.

You may want to change the oil ASAP. See if the piece doesn't come out in the oil change if indeed you did pop a piece out.

The problem was caused by residual oil in the bottom of the tapped hole. When you started torqing the bolt, the bolt acted the same as a hydraulic piston because you were going against a "blind hole" with oil in it; this process is know as 'forced hydraulics' and will take path of least resistance; the thin wall of the casting block! The block may be scrap now, as this could have very well gone into a water jacket.

Too any of those who watched this thread I went ahead and torqued the heads down and ran it like nothing happend, changed the oil and nothing came out.. got maybe 200 miles on and lots of wot pulls and no sign of anything wrong yet. So if this does happen to anyone else its posible you could be fine to run it.. I may have just lucked out but so far so good..

the screen on the pickup tube shouldnt pick it up. Im not thrilled sitting here thinking about a having metal chunk in my own oil but youll be ok. also be sure that that bolt sealed up. since you poked a hole in it the bolt hole is probably poking into the water jacket. I had a SBC do it to me one time. Just something to be sure of

I noticed jake hasn't been on here yet. I am friends with jake, A little update. He just came down here to our local dragstrip and raced this last Friday night. He had no problems and his truck ran a 11.5 @ 116.5 mph. All seem to be good. He will probably chime in.
