Yea but explain to me this. I installed my pushrods that im going to be using with preload and my clearance got smaller. Doesnt that mean that my lifters are not compressing?

Got around to putting the valvetrain back together, and also painting my valve covers.

Guys I'm a little worried about this double roller chain and oil pump that I installed. My chain is actually rubbing the oil pump just barely but it is. The chain link connectors, you know these little tiny silver things that go through the chain is whats contacting the oil pump. The setup is an slp pump and timing chain. I was told by slp that this setup will not rub. What gives?

well you can call SLP and complain, get a new set or you money back, or you can slightly notch the oil pump. just where it is touching the chain. now if this is a bad idea someone please chip in and tell me i am wrong, cause i dont want to be the cause of motor failure.

+1 as above,
loosen oil pump off front of engine carefully and file a little off the offending area.
we normally have to do this on assembly 50% of the time
cheers dave

I'm worried about metal shavings.

Is the back side of the chain look the same as the front, maybe if you turn the chain around you'll have the needed clearance..?
BTW, good luck!

Okay guys I have a questions about installing my underdrive pulley. I bougght the special tool to get the crank pulley back on the snout. I also have a new gm crank pulley bolt and a new arp crank pulley bolt. After I use the special tool to get it seated where do I go from there?

Passenger side of the block just above the pan rail. About 2/3 way back from the front of the block.

Almost there guys. Need to put the radiator back in, install crank pulley, and oil dipstick and shes ready to be fired up. Wish I would of had money for a fast set up, but it was not possible right now. This project cost me enough. So I bought a brand new ls6 intake for my setup and got her installed.

Get it set within these specs first:

Then put the car in 6th gear, and put enough ARP assembly lube under the head of the ARP crank bolt to lube it and the washer. Then tighten bolt to 244 lbs..

Checker springs are necessary if you're measuring PTV w/ stock lifters installed (vs. solid lifters), otherwise the lifter plunger can compress due to spring pressure (as said above) and your PTV measurement *will almost certainly* be off. You won't know either way. Doesn't really make sense to take the time to measure PTV, but not use $3 checker springs for accuracy...

Also, most shim the pump to prevent contact with the double roller.

Valve covers look good though.

x2 on shimming the pump. That's what I was going to add.

I used checker springs and an adjustable pushrod and had good results. As soon as I installed my pushrod I will be using the clearances changed dramatically, but I was still in the okay zone.

Wow looking good!! I just ordered my H/C today and was hoping to have everything installed before you. Looks like you picked up the pace though.

Looks great!

I would have tried to find a used 78mm FAST (rare, i know) as opposed to buying a NEW LS6 intake, but other than that, sweet build!

When I installed my underdrive pulley I got lucky that my wife had won a free 250 ft-lb torque wrench from her work, so it went back on rather easily, lol...

I started her up today guys. I had to start it with open headers and it was shaking my garage. First off, I know I need a tune, but what exactly should I be experiencing right now without a tune. Rpms are fluctuating a lot, as well as my car wanting to die. Is this normal? Is it just because I need a tune?
