Default How do you check bearing clearance the right way?

Do you torque the main caps and rod caps with the old or the new bolts before you measure them with the micrometer or the plastigauge?

The new bolts torqued to spec, and the new bearings installed, also remembering that if you used arp main studs that they require a couple of torque cycles. The most accurate way to measure requires some very expensive tools. Thats why most use plastigage.

Luckily my work has top shelf mics and telescopic bore gauges, but I will double check with plastigauge.

I am using arp head bolts and whatever comes with the H beam rods, do they need torque cycled a few times or is less cycles better?

Hi,
the aforementioned is correct / make a list and check it thrice (3). If in doubt ask and verify readings to avoid issues.wishing you the best with this project build. Have a blessed day..
