Default LS2 vs LS6 intakes

I seams like everyone wants to replace the LS1 stock intake with the LS6 intake. Is the LS2 intake another option? If so what is a good price for the LS2 intake? I know the LS6 intakes are $250-350.

Yep. I saw the thread. It is an option. But, a lot of custom work needs to be done...

I would not consider it custom, but the work is somewhat costly. You will need a 4 bolt TB. A throttle cable bracket. A map extension. And an LS2 fuel rail. Also include spacers if you are using a tall injector.

Really the only thing you would need to do is extend the map harness and get a mechanical tb however its simply not worth it you would have to port the hell out of a ls2 intake to even come close to a stock ls6 intake. just get the ls6 and a ported tb.

Most people go LS6 because you don't have to buy another throttle body and cable bracket and you will see very close to the same gains. At the point you start spending over $500 for intake and TB combo I think its more worth the money to save for a FAST setup.

What he said, the only benefit of the LS2 is the 90 MM throttle body. Look up the TPIS mod for the LS6 if you want a cheap performing manifold....the LS2 shouldn't be on your mind though.

I agree, this has been proven several times by independent dyno tests. The first that I recall was performed by Car Craft back in 2005. They wanted to see if a LS2 intake swap would be a nice up grade in performance for the LS1/LS6 engine. It proved to be a very expensive waste of time. The LS2 intake was poorly designed (engineered)...a real turd to say the least.

I got an LS2 intake assembly fairly cheap from a guy's new crate engine. The LS2 manifold can be ported and welded back together to perform fairly well. There's a feature on it here:
http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...ing/index.html

The only reason I went this route because it was good price $500 that included fuel rails, 32# ev6 injectors, manifold, and a new DBW TB. If you want to use your old LS1 injectors, you will need adapters. I got a nice throttle cable mount from Holley $25, a new PP 96mm TB $230, EV1 to EV6 adapters, and a MAP extension cable.

If anyone needs a brand new 90mm 4 bolt DBW TB let me know!

Everyone will rip on the performance of the LS2 intake, but they ARE available out there fairly cheap and CAN be made to perform well if you take the trouble to modify them.

stock for stock yes, Once ported the ls2 > ls6. A properly ported ls2 intake will flow on par with a stock fast 90.

I would like to see a independent dyno comparison between a ported LS2 intake a stock 90 FAST. An LS2 intake flows less than a LS6 when comparing stock to stock. So porting a LS2 intake suddenly makes it comparable to FAST 90? The only people that believe that are guys running LS2 intakes. I do believe that the porting of the LS2 intake will show a improvement in flow, but not to the extent that you propose.

I don't know, maybe look it up, do some research and call them?

They have an exchange service.
