Default ASA or Reg Hotcam?

Which one to go with? Car is only a nice summer weekend driver. I put about 35oo miles a year on it. Mods in sig. Only other mods planned after the cam for this year will be LT headers sometime this summer. Can I run the ASA cam without tuning? I have a MAF translator and a scanmaster If that's really gonna help me

I think Hotcam will run better with no head work for your application. Just remember to swap out stock springs.

Im just put in the GM hot cam this weekend in my 99 SS. But i also just ordered the ASA hot cam just before that... I guess i just love swapping cams.. Ive heard what each sound like... I still have cats on my car, so the hot cam isnt that loud at idle.. even though i dont have a muffler. But ive heard what the ASA cam sounds like with stock manifolds, no cats, and a random tech muffler.. its insane... And yes.. that ASA cam is runnin on MAFT tuning only... in an AUTOMATIC!

Hey RT,

I am looking at both of these cams. I want the best sounding one for my setup which is stock with GMMG on an M6 car. Which one would you pick for that right sound? Can you post a sound clip of yours?

Thanks!

If you plan on keeping your cats, i would stick with the GM hot cam, simply because the ASA cam will destroy the cats. My car sounds pretty nice with the GM hot cam, but i dont have a clip, my digi cam only does video, no audio... If you want an all out race sound... go for the ASA cam with no cats, and a random tech muffler (its the best flowing muffler and will dampen the sound enough to not get caught) and your car will be ***** to the wall loud! Extreme lope since the ASA is on a 110lsa...

If you keep your cats, like im doing, go with the GM hot cam, its awesome.

How was the surging on the ASA cam? Did you have to drill the TB? Why will it kill the cats?

The ASA cam in my friends Automatic car didnt surge at all.. the TB was drilled out, but i dunno exactly how much. And it will kill the cats because of the amount of unburned fuel going into them because the cam is so radical..

i would think theyd peak close to the same rpm because even though the asa cam is bigger duration wise its got a tighter lsa which brings the peak back down but im by no means a cam expert so i could be wrong. if its just a weekend driver do the asa cam. if youve got another car why not go radical?
