Will a LS2 Cam work in a LS1 motor ??

My LS2 cam shaft is out of a 07 Vette LS2 motor , it only has 4,000 miles on it, can it be installed in a 98-02 LS1 F-body motor??

I have all the valve train parts too, cam sprocket, springs, retainers, push rods, & rocker arms.

the ls1 has a different cam sensor compared to the ls2 if thats what your asking. the ls1 has it on top front by the the valley and the ls2 has it in the front by the cam gear here is the difference

You would have to put the LS2 timing chain and front cover on as well and get an extension harness for the cam sensor. The cam sensor on a LS1 is on the top of the block in the BACK by the oil pressure sending unit. The LS2 cam sensor is in the front cover. Hints why you need the extension harness. We have all the parts if you need it.

While you guys are talking about this, I have all LS1 now. I see the LS2 conversion kits availible. What exactly is the benefit to changing set up to that? Thanks.

I believe the specs of the LS2 cam are the same as the 01 LS6 cam as well.

The kits are wiring extensions that allow an LS1 car's harness to be 'painlessly' connected to the LS2's front-located cam sensor and to the side-located knock sensors. Understand that the LS1/LS6 has those sensors located in a different spot than the LS2.

...But alone the kit will not convert your LS1 motor to an LS2 motor...unfortunately that costs extra lol

The E38 LS2 cam sprocket is x4 and will not work.

The E40 LS2 cam sprocket is x1 which is what you need.

If you order an LS1 cam sprocket from GM they will send you exactly this.
