Default max compression

assuming race gas is used, what is the max compression the aluminum block LS1 block & heads can handle? Using stock bolts and after market?

Is compression cheap horsepower?

Stock pistons? No higher than 11.5:1 without some serious tuning and timing drop

I will defentially disagree with the 11.5:1
There are a number of people running up to 12.1/12.2 down here in Florida on 93 Octane with a stock bottom end. I have seen at least 20 over 11.5 between Miami and Tampa alone. It's all about the tune. I will say that you might have to take 2-3 degrees of timing out in some cases but not all.
There is a tuner named Jeremy Formatto works out of Tampa and he has done a number of these setup's with very good results.
As far as race fuel goes I would have to guess you could go as high as anyother motor would go. I am not sure what the highest octane unleaded fuel is, but I have seen 14:1 CR running solid on 100 Octane.
