Default Stock 853's to PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L... worth it?

I have a 2000 Z28, all bolt-ons and MS3. I'm currently making 366whp Mustang (395whp DynoJet). I'm also on stock LS6 28.8 injectors.

The PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads are pretty cheap and I'm told they are easy to setup to clear the MS3's lift without flycutting.

Is it worth the ~$1700 between heads, gaskets, bolts, lifters, & injectors? I'd hope to make at least 400whp Mustang (435whp DynoJet).

Also, I'm not sure what injectors would be best, but I'd rather go overkill. I was thinking FAST 36#'s.

Thanks, in advance.

I had those heads on my stock shortblock, they are milled to 59 ccs, with a custom EPS cam and a ported fast 92 and stock maf , my car put out 463 rwhp and 428 ft. lbs on texas speeds dyno. I am still using those heads on my stroker, it will be dyno tuned in two weeks. I run the bosch type 3 fuel injectors, the 42 lb ones. Hope this helps

Definitely worth it! They will make the car run like a raped ape with a good cam like you have.

Probably some of the best heads for the money. They will be a direct bolt on. It wouldn't hurt to put a set of injectors in with the heads but you can't really count that in the cost of the heads. You would run into that with any head. I would put a FAST 36 lb. or Racetronix 37 lb. injector in it. Both will support that power fine. Should see a solid 40+ HP gain with that combo if everything is setup correctly!

Ive got those heads with a 228/232 and love it. Great top end with stock drivability. Before and after- added heads/cam/headers/underdrive pulley.

Yeah, the car is a daily driver (in the summer) so this was the perfect setup for me. Didnt lose power anywhere and kept a nice flat torque curve.
