ok i'm confused. sjsingle1, posted pictures that show the part number of the ls6 valley cover being 12577927, but looking on ls1howto, they say the part number is 12568002.

what am i missing here?

thanks SJ.

ran into another problem. just installed my NEW ls6 valley cover, but my ls1 "X" coolant crossover wont fit. i read the ls1howto and it didnt say that you couldn't use the old "X" crossover.

so does the old "X" crossover not fit with the new ls6 valley cover, or am i doing something wrong?

also just in case i end up having to run the two front coolant pipes instead of the old "X" one, i can't seem to find PN 12568478 on gmparts.

No there is no clearance issues with the 102 and the new style cover. The 102 comes with a lower profile bolts to replace the donkey dick ones 10/13mm ones that come with the cover. After you replace them you are good to go.

If you get your cover from Scoggin dickeys, mine came with the gasket, and new bolts ready to install

the issue isnt whether or not the manifold fits, i haven't got there yet, but i'm sure ill run into problems there too. i'm not able to get the coolant line to sit on top of the ls6 valley cover. the "X" crossover hits that tube that extends off the valley cover.

I am currently running a Metco breather in place of the oil cap, with a deleted PCV system. Is it still worth going to the LS6 valley cover? Or is it a waste of money at this point? I plan on running another breather on the driver side valve cover aswell. I am also going to replace my knock sensors/harness.
You've deleted the PVC. There's absolutely no advantage to be gained with the LS6 valley cover in your circumstance.

It would in fact be a waste of money.

It may not help with oil consumption, but it will help by pulling some unneccesary pressure out of the crank case.

The new style cover for 67.77 is not from a sponsored vender. But if anyone wants one PM me. I am trying to get them to sponsor though. I have yet to find a part that they sell that is cheaper elsewhere.

The OP said he had a breather in the passenger valve cover and he is putting a breather in the driver side valve cover and he has deleted the PVC.

Putting an LS6 valley cover on such a setup would have no effect and would be spending money with no return. There is also the negative of having to notch the LS1 block for the LS6 valley cover and the possibility of introducing aluminum grindings and abrasives into the crankcase.

The small orifice in the built-in PVC of the LS6 intake would do little if anything to alleviate pressure as any pressure would seek the path of least resistance and that would be the air breathers in the valve covers.

I went through this years ago, and knowing what I know now, If I had an LS1 and the PCV were operable and I had a problem with oil getting introduced into the intake, I'd spend the money on a good catch can rather than fiddle with changing the valley cover.
