Default LQ4 Cam advice. Cam to be bought this week.

Ok after many dead motors in the last 6 months this is my latest attempt at a motor that will last more than 2weeks lol...

Setup is...

0mi Lq4
FAST 102mm
47lb injectors
PAcesetter LTS\
TSP X
4200 stall
builts 4L60e
I have the trucks heads on the lq4 now and my 241s are still good on my ls1.
Other misc parts...

All i need now is a cam and springs... im already set on a set of Comp 926's...

As far as cam goes i dont wanna go crazy big like before... aka Polluter and a custom grind that was 239/245 615/618 110.

I was looking at the VRX5 from Veng and they said it would be pretty good in my set up, also called TSP and they recommended the MS3 which ive heard good things about.

I gotta find that sweet spot in the cam as now I have lower compression yet i still rock the 4200 stall...

Leaning to the VRX5 atm.

Thanks for any input

Why not just get a custom specced cam, made for what you got and what you wanna do. I have had two done for me by EPS and made killer power, couldnt be happier. Geoff skinner is the man when it comes to cams on these cars.

Question 1: Why do you keep losing motors?

Question 2: Why not sell/trade your 317 truck heads in favor of some 243/799 heads that flow just as well and have smaller 64cc chambers?

Question 3: What are you doing with this car? Doesn't appear to be a daily driver, but what is your mix of street/strip driving?

Question 4: Do you realize all of the cams you've mentioned differ only slightly from one another?

24x/24x 112
239/245 110
236/238 113
237/242 112

If you really wish to try a smaller cam to work with less compression, 2-3 degrees isn't really worth mentioning. Truth is, everything you've had or suggested would be best at 11:1 or more compression.

Well motor 1 died due to lifter failure and it having 147k on it. Motor 2 died cause I skimped out and reused the springs from motor 1 because they tested good... They weren't, dropped a valve.

As far as getting a different set of heads I'm kinda on time and budget constraint but if I get lucky ill grab some 243s. Been looking no dice.

Also yes this car is much my preferred dd. Has been since 07. All these motor problems just came about after moving to az last year but oh well.

been using the larger cams just because I love the sound and have always made pretty good power. 412/405 on the last setup. But I'll leave my specs to the guys at vengeance. If its smaller due to the scr for optimum power so be it.

Really wish I could find some heads at rock bottom price in the next few days though

tell me what your vrx5 puts down. i've been looking around as well and that has always interested me, but you might also want to look at EPS by Geoff.

New technology keeps coming out for a reason its usually better, not saying the vrx5 is bad by any means but I'd give geoff or ed c a call and go custom
