I heard of Rev dual drop in springs breaking also. My 918 are still running great with like 13,000 miles. As for them being marginally acceptable for big lift cams, i have to disagree. I run cam with .585"lift i have backshifted motor twice from 3rd to 2nd with no PTV problems at 6500 rpms! I dont even run titanium retainers like some.

Do you guys think I will have a problem with the 918s breaking using the T1 cam (.559 lift)?

My last set of SII heads were running 918's w/a T1. 10K(HARD) miles....no probs at all. These were Cartek heads and set up by Cartek w/a .030 mill. Recently pulled them for a new set of TEA 5.3's, and checked open/closed pressures/heights, and ALL were good These were NOT the newer blue striped springs.

I'm only spinning this motor to 6400 so I can't say if they'll hold up to those who spin higher?

I tend to believe that proper/inproper set up on ANY head(as mentioned above) as well as heat cycling of these(or any) spring is going to make a difference in how long the spring will live. Why wouldn't you back check someone elses work, or any drop in item? Nobody/nothing is(always)perfect. Josh B. can attest to that first hand

On a side note(no flames intended), why are those who are running higher lift cams, and SI/SII heads not having the seats cut for dbl. springs? It only takes an hour or less per head and the added cost of a dbl. spring, giving you the peace of mind knowing there will be no float issues, not to mention not having to always wonder if these dainty single coil units are gonna self destruct?

TEA is cutting the seats and using doubles on ALL their heads. Hmmm....wonder why........
