Matt,

The box has the following text:

PAC1518
28-1518

I don't see any lot number or batch number - on the box or referenced in the accompanying documents (invoice).

(TSP Invoice # 46500, 2/2/2011).

Please advise.

Thanks,
Curtis

I spoke to Matt at PAC. My springs came from the batch that had issues. They have not been installed yet. Matt told me to send them back and they will give me a new set. I'm very pleased with the way this was handled.

My batch number:

36822 82310

Mine I believe on march 2nd. They have been on the car for almost 1k miles so far without a problem.

FYI: I did not receive packaging like this (and the springs were not partitioned to protect them during shipping):

Default ASA springs

Not sure where this information is coming from but it is not accurate. PSI was not the supplier of the ASA valve springs. The LS1 ASA engines produced by GM and by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering all used GM production LS6 valve springs. The early engines used the 2001 LS6 springs. The later engines used the 2002-2004 LS6 springs (that replaced the 2001 spring design).

when they had the GM account. I've heard they last forever even w/today's
more aggressive lobe profiles. FWIW @370 lbs open .625 lift...if your cam has
.610 theoretical lift....factoring in deflection....a dial indicator would show the
retainer is only moving .590 and springs usually lose some pressure after a few
heat cycles so you'ld end up @ around 320-325 open pressure.

Sorry Jason my wording was incorrect. I know PSI was not the "supplier"
but rather developed a spring with exceptional endurance qualities as needed
in stockcar racing. The only LS racing series I knew of that existed was ASA
to which I know you guys freshened the engines. I suppose any spring other
than the GM may have been a rules infraction however someone @ Wegner
did tell me they used them. I was only trying to suggest an alternative B hive
since I see threads about other brand names having occasional issues
maybe due to todays more aggresive lobes....not sure......
again I apologize for my improper statement

I just got word back from PAC about the springs we (Texas Speed) have sold and have good news! First, to clarify, because we buy them in such quantities, some of our stocking orders are shipped to us in bulk boxes instead of individuals and then we box them here. I am told that absolutely NONE of the bulk order springs that we have received from PAC were in the affected batches that they are concerned about and/or replacing. if you've got any of the boxes of 16 springs labeled by PAC with the batch number and all, and want to check your batch to see if they had issues, feel free to contact us! We are still installing and running the PAC springs with 100% confidence in them, and encourage our customers to do the same! Let us know if we can help with anything else!

The good news is...you found out before doing some serious damage to your engine.

I think it was around December. I've been slowly getting parts together for my car. I'm looking for the receipt to tell for sure. I bought the springs from Scoggin Dickey.

**** the beehives, its not worth it. There are no threads about dual valve springs breaking. We are going with the Patriot gold kit. Done.

There's plenty of thread about dual springs breaking if you look for them. I've run PAC beehives for the last 5 years with 100% success and I like to think i push the springs quite hard Currently have a 260/264 .685/.685 in there now with PAC beehives, it goes over 7000rpm reliably....
