Swapping the stock rockers is no prob. Like mentioned by wytry, Comp Cams trunion kit ($140) recommended. Also its a very good idea to replace the lifters with new during a cam swap and definately get new hardened pushrods. New LS7 lifters can be had for only $140 and pushrods for right around $100.

Which length valves are in the new heads? If they were off an 02+ LS6 they have longer valves than the LS1 to compensate for the smaller base circle of the 02+ LS6 cam. The valve length and base circle of your new cam should determine which length pushrod you should use.

the cam is 232/234 .595/.598. Ive got new lifters already. I imagine i can pull the numbers off the head to tell which valves are in it. Im not sure what year of car they were on?

If you have the hollow stem intake valve and sodium filled exhaust valve then you have a "true" ls6 setup.
243/799 heads were not just on the LS6. Heck my bosses 2007 Avalanche with a 5.3L has 243's and so do 2 other government trucks at my office which have a 4.8L and another 5.3L.
There is even a set of them (243) sitting in a box here at my house....and they weren't built originally for a LS6.
