243 Head on the new 4.8L is the same as the ls6 head

243 Head on the new 4.8L is the same as the ls6 head

Found a set of 243 heads at a salvage yard off a 2010 full size chevy pickup it has 243 head casting. the motor looks just like a 5.3l
So are these the same casting heads as the ls6 or different

If it says 243 then theres no reason it wouldn't be the same casting except I doubt it has the better intake valves in it.

Same as any other 243 other than the sodium/hollow valves.

The 243s that came on GTOs do not have the sodium filled valves, so it could be either.

It doesn't have the good valves, they stopped making them. It's a set of 243 heads, same as any other casting 243.

The way most guys here setup their valvetrain, having lighter valves matter little. Stock 2.00/1.55 stainless valves will do the job just fine if VJ is on the money.
