Well, looks like I am going with the I-beams, the Ultras were a little out of my budget and I figure the most I may ever make is about 1400 crank. I can gamble a bit based on the positive things Ive heard about the compstars as it seems theyre slightly underrated

Reading this blows my mind I was under the impression H beam was the stronger of the two. Almost bought a set of compstars on flea bay last night. Guess ill have to search I beams now

Although those Ultra I Beams do look fantastic. Makes the H beams look very plain.
But seems the I beams are a bit heavier than the H's so I guess lightweight is always worth having.

I too was under the H-beam stronger than I beam impression.
From what iv heard, most manufacturers make there rods and cranks (castings) in China nowadays but finish them to there standards in the USA. Have been told there not made from cheap Chinese materials but from strong materials sold by Australia to China, (yes a lot of our materials get sold to China for cheap) which ends up coming back to Aus to be sold as there respective brands at an exuberant amount which i have recently found out.
