I know all about doing things while your in there (chain, pump). Just trying to keep it on the low end of money. Maybe I should just not do a cam and pur around rather than lope.

If you don't like the hot cam then what would you recommend. Lopey idle, daily driver, clean drivability, and enough performance to make it worth it. If it had a bbc in it I wouldn't even be asking but this is my first ls engine that I have been able to play with.
Definitely more wear and tear, just like a cam. As long as you put a nice big cooler on it, you shouldn't have an issue as long as everything is in working order now.
If you don't have the money for a chain/pump you are correct.. You should hold off until you do. But honestly, its what? An extra 100-150$.

As stated... If you aren't willing to do a converter, I have no recommendations except keep the stock cam. This goes for you and everyone else, I'm not picking on you.
There is no lopey idle/clean drivability/enough performance cam with the stock converter out there... If there is, let me know.

You don't have to spend all the money in the world... I HIGHLY suggested chain/pump, extra 150$~.
I said you HAD to have a converter... I didn't recommend that. A converter should be the FIRST mod choice in an ls1.

If you are willing to get a converter (3000 minimum IMO) then I would look into low 22X/22X .560 113 cams... Something like a 228R from texas-speed.com would be the absolute biggest. Any of those will get you a nice lopey idle, great torque under the curve and be easy to tune.
If you won't get a converter, I won't recommend a cam. An ls6 cam is a waste of time... No lope, you can feel it pushing the brakes, not much performance gains.

There isn't anything wrong with asking questions, but it seems some people ask the questions and then don't want to listen to the answers because its not what they want to hear and then the thread turns into a pissing match. This ain't my first trip around the block But all is well so carry on, lemons is giving you good advice btw.

Update the thread if you don't mind whenever you make some kind of decision, to cam it or not to cam it/what converter/ etc etc...

I know a lot of people are probably like I was at first....I remember the old school big stalls with no lockup and was scared of going too high on a stall, thought is lose all my fuel mileage and not be enjoyable to drive on the street.....I was wrong on all accounts lol got a 2,800, found it was really too small....got a 3,800 and loved it....got a bigger cam and went with a 4,000 rpm stall now, and love it

Perhaps keeping your stock cam is the best choice right now.
How about adding long tubes / louder exhaust and maybe playing around with lowering your idle to add a slight lope??

I would also add a pulley.
