Default 243's with out cam worth it?

I have a set of 243's from a 05 gto. I was going to put them on my Z/28 with a cam. Could I put them on with the stock cam? Would it be worth it? I'll cam the car over this next winter. I have 8xx heads now.

You can install them with the cam stock cam and still expect about 15hp or so in gains at the tires!

Nice! I'd say thats worth it. Would I need to retune for the 243's?

It would benefit you to update your tune, but she'll run alright without.

to save yourself some work later on, figure out what cam you're going to be using, buy the springs you'll need and install them on the heads before you put the heads on. Lots easier to change them on the bench than under the cowl.

Good point. Ditto on the lifters and lifter trays for that matter.

I did the springs while I did the heads.
However.. if you can afford it, buy the heads now and hold onto them until you can afford the cam too.
I ripped my car apart last year now i gota do it again..

A good valve job and milling will yield an easy 20rwhp on top of a stock camshaft.

I already have the heads. When I get a cam, I'll send the heads to AI. They are also going to spec me a cam for the heads. But I just want to put the 243's on now. I sold my stock heads already. Just have to remove them now.
