Default Camshaft Change Questions

I am going to be installing a new cam this weekend and was wondering what gaskets I need if I am going to keep the stock oil pump. Will I need new Timing cover gasket, Timing cover seal and water pump gaskets? Are the stock ones reusable? Thanks and please be as specific as possible as to what gaskets I need.
Thanks
Matt

Thank-you for the help but why would I need a new bolt? Just curious.
Thanks alot.

Because the stock bolt is a torque-to-yield item. Pardon the crude analogy, but it's like a condom - only meant to be used once.

Unlike the gaskets which are meant to be used many times. Save yourself some money and just get some water pump gaskets and a crank seal. In over 15 cam installs, I've never replaced valve cover gaskets or the timing chain cover gasket. What springs are you installing?

Yeah, unless you have a 98, all you need is a front seal and bolt.

I have a timing cover gasket Ill sell you for 6.00 shipped if you want it LOL. brand new

I've used my water pump gaskets over twice. Once for the cam and then again for the Merziere with NO leaks. Didn't change the timing cover gasket either, but I did swap out the seal. The rocker gaskets are the "O" ring type and they have a tendancy to swell up. If they do and they pop out of the machined-in groove you will have to change them as well. If they stay in the groove you might get away with using them over again too. One of them swelled up enough to come out of the groove and once that happens there's no getting it back into the groove so it MUST be replaced. None of these gaskets are expensive so cost isn't really a factor. Just examine your gaskets closely and decided for yourself if you want to pinch pennies and risk the chance of having to go back into the motor again later unnecessarily.

You actually dont need any new gaskets. The chances that you stock ones are fine are pretty good. My water pump gaskets were trashed when I did my cam swap. All the other gaskets were fine, but I had bought a whole set anyways to replace them all. You don't need valve cover gaskets, my stock ones were in perfect condition. I'd just reccomned the front seal, and water pump gaskets, and of course a new crank bolt. Get another timing cover seal if you have the money. Thunder Racing sells all of these gaskets.
