Ticking Noise In Engine
My mods are as follows: JE Pistons and Piston Rings, Lunati Rods, new rod and main bearings, TR Pushrods, Comp Valve Springs, Comp OEM Lifters, TR220/114LSA, TR Ported Oil Pump, Double Roller Timing Chain, Weiand Intake, TSP Lid, MAC Catback exhaust.
Prior to running the motor we didnt have oil pressure. We dropped the oil pan and checked the pick up tube. We noticed that there was lint inside the screen. We cleaned out the pick up tube. We looked at the back of the motor and noticed that an oil galley plug was missing. After we installed one we got oil pressure back. It was not making a ticking noise when we first fired up the motor after the oil galley plug install. After 50 miles the ticking began. Could it be possible that there was still lint in the motor and could have plugged an oil passage to the lifters? We opend up the oil cap and looked down after it has been running and noticed that it was a bit dry around the rocker arm. Anybody have experiences with Comp OEM Lifters? Is it normal for them to be noisy?
if it is one of the lifters ill know it next week when i start her back up with these new dual coil springs pushin down.
so does mine but only i can hear it. i ask people if they can hear anything and they say they cant. ls1's have been known for noisy valvetrains, some louder than others. just my .02
