Hope I can clear this up....I read an artical that detailed Ls1 engine assembly
by The Genaral and YES hydraulic roller cams break-in fine on synthetic oil
but the question is more related to piston ring seating. The ls engines are
rotated by a robot in shortblock and longblock form with a set of ft./lb.
parameters to ensure proper assembly.(catch if something is tight/wrong)
During this procedure the rings seat with whatever assembly lube GM uses
so essentially the engine is broken in for startup. Also they figure the added
expendature of 6 dollar per quart oil is absorbed by Vette-boy paying 20grand
more than the F-body customer....HA HA HA
