Default dropped nut in cylinder !! engine died !!

This is what happened ,

an unnoticed dropped nut was in the cylinder. Cranked it up !! and this is what happened

there is a crack in the block . can that be fixed by some how ?

Damn...sorry to hear that, I bet that sounded horrible when you cranked it over. Don't know if it can be repaired, looks like it's in a vital spot close to the piston and all.

that sucks!! how did that nut drop in the cylinder you had the intake off what were you changing? and that engine is gone including the one head you are better of buying a used one or upgrade to something else 6.0 etc

That's what i'm asking if it worth to fix this if it can be fixed or just buy a block.

Yes , intake was off. The right head looks fine, it's not cracked or grooved.

We are thinking about ls3/ls7 swap now.

there is a l92 6.2L almost indentical to a ls3 i think he is asking 3200 obo

i would just use your crank and what ever else you can and build a 6.0 like this,, brand new 850 bucks

how did you not notice a nut missing? or are you the kind that re-engineers something thinking a few nuts and bolts wont matter? lol

That can be fixed. A new sleeve. Any reputable engine shop can fix you up. But you may be close to spending as much as just finding another block. So do a little research

If it's just the sleeve, it can be fixed. However, it's probably going to be cheaper and less hassle to find another LS1 pull-out and install it.

Also, the LS3 engines have a different reluctor wheel on the crank. It's not exactly a "drop in" swap without changing reluctor or converting to an E38 PCM.

reluctor wheels are pretty easy to change. A little heat and they come right off. Throw the replacement wheel in the oven at 350 degrees for a half hour or so and it will slip right on.

I realize how easy they are to change. I swap over 10-15 reluctors a month.

The internet is always quick to yell out extreme recommendations. "Hey it's blown up, throw a 427 in it!!"....

He doesn't need an LS3 and I'm sure if the OP had intentions of spending a bunch of money on another engine he would have specified so. The fact is, this fix can either be done by re-sleeving or another pull out shortblock. Simple, effective, cheap. An LS3 is an awesome swap to do, but right now while that engine still holds a pretty high value, it's anything but cheap (unless you get lucky).

Yea we are not thinking about fixing that , but I wonder how it can be fixed ? I mean what exactly they do to fix it ?

ok , do I install the ls1 reluctor wheel or another ? how do I know which one will fit ?
