Man ive learned alot, 241 heads are just as good as trickflows and pacesetter headers are just as good as kooks. Wish I woulda known this before I started the build on my vette!

Not yet haha. Luckily the original owner was my GF dad and he drove like Mrs. Daisy so it hasnt really been romped on a lot....Until now

Not sure what clutch the stock one is, but its holding up so far. I expect to see it poop the bed soon, and me and my buddy will be doing the swap ourselves. Still not sure if I want to go with the Monster or Centerforce.

When time comes to replace the clutch, have you thought about an LS7 clutch kit? I have one and also a friend of mine has one in his 613hp 402ci stroked LS2 C6 and it holds up with easy and shifts smooth as butter. Just a little fyi for ya.

Yeah Ive heard of people doing that, but figured if Im going to do the swap, to put the extra money in to get something thats really gonna last. Your LS7 clutch hasn't slipped at all? How hard do you drive it? I ask because Ive heard they dont hold up as long as most people think, then again its prob different for everyone.

I've only heard good things about the LS7 clutch. My friend has 470rwhp and we went to the track a couple days ago....not one issue with it beating on it all night. Plus it's only $450. That's what my tuner recommended for me to get.

This is consistent with the experience reported by the CTS-V crowd. The LS7 clutch is a popular upgrade in that group and works okay for the conservative driver. The more aggressive drivers of the group, whose CTS-Vs are more heavily modified, however, report that the LS7 clutch fails quickly if subjected to hard launches and power shifts.

I haven't used mine yet on the road but the pedal feel is great, my build isn't done. My friend with the 613hp stroked LS2 C6 loves the clutch. He doesn't launch real hard or drag the car, but does get on it hard and rips through the gears down the open road. His car is a street car, not a drag car and he treats it that way, if you know what I mean.

I've been told the LS7 clutch will hold up to 600hp just fine as long as its not subjected to hard launching repeatedly. And in a 400whp street car that isn't dragged a lot, an LS7 clutch will last a very very long time. Hints why I have one. My car is a street car that will rarely see a punishing launch. Another great thing about the LS7 clutch is how soft and silky smooth the clutch pedal is.

IMO, if you're going to "beat" on the car off the line consistantly, then no, do not get one. That's where a twin disc clutch deverses to be.

Plan on doing a simliar build to my z28. Leaning more towards the afr 215's though. Good to see the numbers, gives me more reason to save $$$ and I need all the help I can get . Thanks OP.

LS7 clutch good for ~525rwhp
LS6 clutch good for ~425rwhp......and thats right where mine heated up on the dyno

If I went to the track a lot i'd probably look for something else. But for a street car with the occasional race here and there it's more than enough.

Did he get almost the same or did he get the exact same? $7500 is almost the same as $9K
