Thumbs up Modded PP/WCCH 6.0/LS6 head flow numbers w/in!!

Well I picked up my heads today from Richard at West Coast Cylinder Heads. These heads started out as Patriot CNC ported 6.0/LS6 heads. They have REV 2.100 intake and 1.600 exhaust, Patriot Gold dual springs, 4.125 bore 28":
PP Intake WCCCH PP Exhaust WCCH
.100 72.1 74.7 64.6 61.4
.150 107.0 113.7 98.4 94.3
.200 143.7 151.8 131.8 128.6
.250 180.7 189.6 158.8 171.8
.300 210.8 217.9 181.9 202.3
.350 241.5 247.2 199.8 215.9
.400 264.7 274.7 198.7 228.6
.450 288.5 297.2 216.9 236.6
.500 306.0 317.1 222.1 240.5
.550 315.4 330.0 225.4 245.2
.600 322.4 339.4 227.9 246.7
.625 308.6 342.5 229.5 248.2
.650 305.8 334.2 230.3 248.9

These will be going on my 447 ci LS1, Richard @ WCCH hand ported/finshed the heads and I think did an amazing job, the mid lift numbers are real strong, they should get me on my way to my 550 rwhp N/A goal. Terry at Patriot has been great to deal with as well, I just wanted a little more than the off the shelf heads provided. I'm deciding on a nice streetable cam. I'm leaning towards a Comp 242/248 .610/.620 on a 112. Static CR is 12.4:1. What do you guys think of the flow numbers and cam choice?

Did WCCH flow them before they hand ported them, or are those the flow numbers that were sent from PP? Either way, both sets of flow numbers look good to me. Did PP send out the heads with 2.1" intake valves?

Great info and very nice numbers with the hand finished work.

The heads were flowed on Richard's (WCCH) bench before any additional work was done. So same bench before and after. The valve size stayed the same before and after as well. I just wanted to say again how good it was to work with both of these guys, would do it agian in a heartbeat and probably will, I'm building 2 Darton MID block motors right now and need another set of heads for the other motor and will probably go the same route. These things look like art work!!

Are you using a Lunati 447 rotating assembly? Just curious.

I thought an LS1 of this kind of displacement was supposed to have a lot of issues with oil consumption etc.

I'm using a Lunati 4.125" crank and their Billet Rods, the pistons are custom JE lightweight special forging and a special ring package. The bore is 4.155". I don't think I'll have any oil eating issues but we'll see...

Please post up your results on this motor when it's finished if you can, and if you have any issues..... I've heard that going past a 427 really isn't a good idea for a hard running race motor. I've been interested in the bigger cubes like this myself but I've heard so many times that it's not a good idea..... stroke is too long, bore is too big, eats too much oil, low rpm limit plus a miriad of other issues I can't recall right now...

Let us know how she turns out! One thing is for sure, if it's running good you should make some massive torque.

Way to go Dave! Those flow numbers look sick, I'm sure you'll easily hit your 550rwhp n/a mark. BTW are you going to be going with a FAST Intake and 90mm TB? Good luck, I can't wait to see the final results.

Hey Tony, Ya I think I'm going to have to give the FAST and 90mm TB a shot, I really want a More Performance sheetmetal intake, I think that would make huge power but they are not cheap at $2,800...I'll let you know how the progress goes. The pistons are getting hard coated and the heads are getting ceramic coated on the chambers and valve faces right now. The block is getting finshed up on the machine work as well. Other than the cam and intake setup. I'm ready to go...

Hey Dave how about a little juice, like 150? What do you think?

Glad to see you got your heads back. You need to get that thing built already. A direct port system would be fun. You are definately going to be using some oil. Let us know when you start putting it together. We should be starting on harry's motor in two or three weeks.

Hey Harry and Jason, I've build it to handle a 250 shot after I get bored with it N/A. I hope I don't get bored with it for a while. I'm building the 427 short block right now, as soon as I'm done putting it together I'll start on mine, I should have everything back from the machine shop and piston coaters next Friday or so...hopefully I can start on it then. Then I'll change my screen name to 447 LS1 Ha..Ha..
