Default Identify what i found stuck to my drain plug magnet

Like the title says. Doing the regular oil change on my car and found this stuck to the drain plug. No strange noises, normal oil pressure. Pulled the valve covers and don't see anything all the rockers look good and the springs, retainers, and seals look good. Maybe the blower bearings? Or maybe a lifter cup? Wristpin lock? 02 ss 67000 miles, ls2 chain, comp cams dual springs w/ titanium retainers, tr cheatr v3, vortech g trim... About 8k on this setup.

It's possibly a lifter cup retainer, but i would think it would be tapping at least. Guess I could remove the rockers and pushrods and look down the pushrod holes with a borescope.

I have a spare set of rockers so I placed it along the bearing cap and it is an exact match as far as diameter, however I looked at the rockers in the car and don't see any missing bearings or the caps

Looks like a piece of a bearing retainer from a rocker. You said all rockers are good so could be from the previous owner (if you're not the original)

Do not have any idea what that may be, but how do you like the V3 cam with your supercharger?

Runs good, I used a mirror to check the rear rockers, but I think I may take all the rockers and pushrods out to check. I didn't have my torque wrench home so I didn't want to remove them yet. Car traps 127 with drag radials and stock exhaust besides a cutout.

Looks like a lifter cup to me too. There was a guy on here not to long ago that had a similar issue, ended up being a lifter, and his car was running fine also.

Looks to me like the size and shape of a lifter roller bearing on the cam end or a trunion cap . Good luck

Quick update, did a leak down test and found excessive leakage on cylinder 7. Air coming out of valve covers going to pull the motor this weekend.

Looks like to me it can only be one of 3 things. Lifter cup retainer, trunion bearing retainer or piston circlip (the old style of course).

+1 on the guy mentioned earlier that had the same problem and his parts looked alot like yours. It was a lifter getting ready to destruct.
