Default LS1 build

Hey guy's just picked up an 98 z28 with a spun bearing and was wondering what is the best way to go about it? Should i just get a new used long block or just build the block that is in the car now? The car is not my DD so the car can sit for now was looking at the TSP 347 roating assembly? The car will mostly be used at the 1/4 track at atco raceway what is your thought's?

Thanks,Steve.

What are your plans for it? How much power do you want? And what is your budget?

The TSP 408 iron block would be a nice choice. Just under $4000. If my motor blows, that's the one I'm going with.

Take the engine apart and see what the wear on the bore is. You can only hone an alum block. There isnt enough meat on the sleaves to allow a bore usually. You might be able to take it to 3.905 which is the oversize to the original bore of 3.898 which is roughly .015" oversize....not much.

yea i hope its just a spun bearing and not a snaped rod or somthing. i want the car to run mid to very low 11's in the 1/4 not really looking for a dyno queen most of its life will be seen at the track from now on.the car is an auto i believe it is a 4l60e. deff plan on spraying the motor arounnd a 125 to 150 shot give or take.

It takes very little to get one of these cars into the mid 11's. A decent motor with a 150 shot should be a 10 second car. Allow some money in the budget for a 9" rear.

Funny how it is so easy for some to "spend" other peoples money. Im sure if he had 10K to throw around at a motor he wouldnt be messing with a 98 car.......
