Default ls6 243 heads 310$ on ebay? is this a hoax?

i was just checking out stuff on ebay and the first thing that comes up when you do a search for ls6 heads is an ad with 243 heads for 310$, isnt that insanely cheap? is there something wrong with them?

i just pulled the trigger and bought them, they were for sale from a guy from waco, texas and he is a top rated seller with a lot of great feedback, my question is why would someone sell those 243 heads for so cheap? i saw another set on there the other day for 400 buy it now, but 310 buy it now is just crazy.....it came out to 354$ total, im crossing my fingers.

the sellers name is bding44, he has some 853 heads on there for 170 buy it now.......he seems legit.

the ad stated, the heads are casting number 12564243, but they came off a 5.3 liter engine so they dont have the same valves (they are the same size) or springs. Did i get ripped? this is the first time i have ever bought anything off ebay, i just saw the 243 heads for 310$ and lost it a little.

Hope you read the fine print. I can't even deal with eBay anymore. I've been screwed over one too many times.

I bought my 799 heads from the same guy. He seems to know his stuff as he parts out a lot of Gen III stuff.

And yes 5.3s did sometimes come with 243s. They are legit.

You got a deal because if you read the entire description the heads came off a 5.3 engine & may not have the same valves or springs & one of the cylinders has some dings so they will need resurfaced. If you plan on milling, changing springs & valves then its not much of an issue.

yea i read all the fine print, i still thought 310$, 350$ shipped was a really good deal....... i plan on having it milled/resurfaced..... but why would i change valves? as long as they are the same size as the corvettes z06 they should pretty much function the same, wright?

01ssredA4, how long did it take your heads to be shipped to you?

He shipped the next day, heads were boxed to drop off a cliff.

You don't need to change the valves. But the Z got the lightweight valves, regular 243/799s did not.

Thats great to hear! i saw he had 100% feedback but not having ordered from ebay before i was a little nervous about everything, reading everyones post have made me feel a lot better and happy about my decision. thank you! i have my stock 806's off to change a blown headgasket, so these will be a nice upgrade. i have a thread in this same section titled ''pulled heads, need opinions'' that i will be keeping updated incase anyone here wants to follow along with my project.

As long as the ad said "pair" and not "each", I'd say good deal!

its an ok deal i know several people that bought 243s way cheaper than that. The newer 4.8L trucks come with them too. You can try local machine shops ask for 2007 or newer truck heads some will have them in stock off of wrecked trucks. I paid 150 for a pair with exchanging a set of 317s as a core.

I thought 4.8 heads had smaller valves ??? Also the lightweight ls6 hollow
valves are .0236 " longer which changes lifter preload

I think we're just talking about the head casting here, sans valves.

His $310 price looks better when you realize the 317s you traded typically go for $150-$200 a set here in the parts section.

How did you have a coupon? I don't think I've ever gotten one for ebay motors

I have no idea lol. I logged into ebay to update some info and there was a warning that said I had a 10% off coupon on anything in ebay motors that expired that day so I started looking around and found the heads so I ordered them.
