What tools do you need?

it just takes basic hand tools, a torque wrench, a balancer puller (rent from parts store) and you can use 5/16" rod to retain the lifters. Water pump bolts make a good handle to pull the cam with too, IIRC.

home depot 5/16 wood Dowell cut in half to hold up lifters. only other thing is large 3 arm puller. now if you need to change springs that's another story

I forgot to mention I will be changing out my valvesprings as well. Are the tools for this available at autozone?

Probably - anything Autozone does not have O'Reilly's will.

what kind springs? dual or single? I also "heard" the autozone spring compressor that looks like a crowbar has problems of breaking bolts off in head.

and the other type of spring compressor you can rent sucks at double valve springs. Just a thought.

I bit the bullet and bought the "proform" valve spring compressor for 70 bucks. Its like the crane compressor, it does two springs at once. This tool is incredible. I changed all my springs in 2 hours. and it works well on my patriot extreme set. This tool will also come in handy since i will now have to check my springs every 20k miles and possibly change them.

But to me it paid for itself the first time i used it by doing two springs at once.
