Those numbers are NOT low for that setup. 410 is about the most you would get out of that setup on a proberly calibrated dynojet. I'd say it's got 50-60 more in it with the intake and the heads definately. Get them milled and/or run a thinner gasket, and consider getting the intake ported. Would probably hit 480-490 without going to a larger cam and have excellent street manners properly tuned.

Is there anything you can do to try not to loose so much horsepower from fly to rear?

Lighter rotating weight in the engine, transmission, rearend and rolling stock as far as the wheels/tires go. Not worth it though if you're only wanting parts to inflate dyno numbers. Why are you upset with them?

That setup with heads/intake should be a drivers race. Equal driving skills I'd give him the advantage unless you wanted to upgrade to a larger cam. I would do exactly what I said and I guarantee you wouldnt be disappointed in it, high/low dyno numbers

Your saying to port my new 102mm fast intake or the stock ls6? Also should I port my new afr 215 heads?

Put a 125-150 shot on it and call it good.

to keep up with your buddy's stock z06 your going to either needs heads and a fast intake or a 125 shot and you'd be fine. Even then all he would need is full exhaust and a vararam and he'd walk all over you again. The z06 will make 440whp stock and 485ish with bolt on's its doing all that in a car thats more aerodynamic and weighs 200-250lbs less

I was referring to the intake. I would call AFR if I were you and ask to find out what gasket and cc size for the heads would be optimal before I thought about anything else. Then maybe consider getting the FAST ported if it means that much to you to outrun the Z. Ported or not ported you're gonna be happy. And DO not touch the runners or valve job on those heads. NO porting. Just milling maybe

If you are wanting to get close to 500 RWHP PM Tony Mamo@AFR on here. 500RWHP is very hard to get as others have mentioned. Tony will probably suggest the heads and intake be Mamofied. Be prepared for this to be expensive. Compression is your friend. The FAST 102 requires different fuel rails and some modifications to the water pump depending on which one you have.

Do you have any suspension mods? You can have all the power in the world but if you can't get it to the ground it doesn't matter.

Keep us updated.

410rwhp is not low for a cam only car unless you believe all the "happy" dynos or "it reads low"

Dude, I wish I was making 410whp!

Don't be too bummed man, you're making very strong numbers already. You'll get there, just give it time and research.

i would say with the mods you have that sounds about right. and thats not bad at all. but the heads and the intake are really going to help.

Those numbers are about where they should be for those mods. Making 500 at the wheels is a different story with stock cubes. You will need a set of primo heads and all the fine details will have to be taken care of. You will have a hard time whipping your buddies Z06. He has 81 more cubic inches and a car that weighs 400 lbs less. Stock he puts about 460 to the wheels with a set of headers, cold air intake, and a good tune he will be right at 500/510 at the wheels. Good luck it might be easier and cheeper to just buy a Z06...

410 isn't bad. Get the heads on then you might want to tune to make sure you're getting everything you can out of it.

Since you seem to dislike the idea of drag racing your car at a strip, why don't you set up a race, before doing all this work on your car, with the Z06? Then you'll know how much work you need to do by how badly he beats you.

Those heads & intake are definitely worth over +50whp. Mill them as much as possible & pick up another 4% more hp per 1 compression point increase. 59cc. chambers will net you around an additional 15-20whp. Milling is cheap & you might as well do it before you install them. I have a similar combo & my vette put down over 480whp.

best to find out what your ptv clearence is before you start shaving cylinder heads. my advice is to get some ported 317s and a turbo, then you will walk all over him.
