well i stated it the other day and the ticking/ knocking is louder..don't think its a bent push rod because its not miss firing or anything . and its coming from the top end..taking it apart this week to see what the deal is..think it may be a lifter..has comp R lifters in it.......i think comp r lifters are junk.
never over rev it..i speed shift at about 6900 rpms 102xxx miles on it...and only put 20xxx sense cam.

I'd stop beating on it until you tear into it a bit. Be it a broken spring, bent pushrod, bent valve, etc these things typically don't end well when they get hammered on after the problem starts.

i haven't started the car sense it made that noise..trailer-ed her home and going to start into it tom. night.
but i have a set of LS7 lifters i bought from awhile ago im going to use if that's the problem..but regardless im going to need head gaskets and some head bolts, what kind of numbers could you get me at Texas speed for those Matt? ive bout some head cam kits from there and all my aftermarket parts have cam from there..

i don't know what else it could be..the engine is not miss firing what so ever and the noise/knock is coming from the middle right under the intake manifold it sounds like..i just need to et the thing apart and see what it is.

Start simple. Take the valve covers off and look at the rockers and springs. Then dive a little deeper. Take the rockers off, check the tips, check for bent push rods.
It's tough to tell sometimes if its a knock or a tick.
What is your setup? What cam, heads, pushrods, springs, etc.
That will give us a little more background on your setup that may help people figure out what's going on.

Ok well i have a custom comp cam..spec myself..238/242 lift is 605/ 610 on a 112+2 lsa , with comp R lifters, ported ls6 oil pump, trick flow 7.400 hardend push rods and ported intake and throttle body..that's it stock rockers and etc..

When my oil pump o ring died the lifters got noisy, but I still had oil pressure. The lifters couldn't deal with the air getting injested with the oil.
Fyi, 3 o-rings work so nice on the tube. They bottom out with about 1/2 an o-ring's width so the whole stack gets lightly compressed, which ensures a leak proof seal forever. Dropping the pan flat sucks, though.

Good find, inspect the valve springs closely while you're doing the rocker swap and verify none are broken.
There has been a lot of discussion about the GM rockers being limited to 0.55x" lift at the valve due to their design. With your lift, you might want to do some research before picking your rocker path.
