I would use the JWIS timing chain with the Comp timing set. The chain that comes with the Comp set is just a stock chain. The JWIS chain with stock gears will still be a little on the loose side (slack).

The IWIS/Jwis chain with the Rollmaster is different then what Cloyes has and is far superior. This comes directly from Iwis/Jwis themselves.

Cloyes Heavy Duty with Hex-adjust. If it's good enough for the Cup boys it's good enough for me. SDPC has them ->

Cloyes link

FWIW.

Cloyes in Cup engines? Maybe 20 years ago. Most all the teams run belt drives now or the roush Silent drive stuff. We have complete short blocks from almost every team at the shop for oil pan fitment, none with cloyes.

I have been running the same Jwiss timing chain for 3 years. I think you could consider the abuse my engines see as "Max Effort"

Chris - Damn , I spent all that money for nothing!! I was told they"d spin high R's for hours and were used by Winston Teams. Maybe they meant to say ASA?? Oh well...I can spell "Schnookered". Thanks for the heads up.

Hey Binks as long as it works

Spanky,

Back when I used to RR the crap out of my car I ran a JWISS. It worked well. Never had a problem. I ran the same JWISS for ~30k miles.

With that being said, I recently upgraded to a nitrated double roller...... I just feel more comfortably with two chains up front with big torque.

Supercharged+N2 383 All-bore.
