Default Cam Package????

Im getting ready for a cam kit for my 99 Z28 M6. I have a full SLP exhaust (LT's,offroads,y/pipe,loudmouth) Most air mods (cold air, lid, K&N, bellow, SLP MAF, Ported TB) I also have plugs and wires, thermostat, and a few more small mods. im also getting an Holley Intake. Ive been lookin for a cam package. I want performance rods, retainers, springs. What size cam would be good for my setup. I kinda want the idle rough, so im lookin pretty big. Im sittin 360 RWHP right now. Im tryin to get close to 400. Where can I find a good kit and will the rods, springs, and titanium retianers make a big difference? How much HP will i see with a cam kit and a new intake??

Thanx

Steve

Check out the sponsers , all of them have wonderful cam packages, they come with everything you will need. Its almost nothing to expect 400rwhp out of a cam swap nowadays

Steve, the Thunder Racing 224/112 or the TR230/224 cam would be an excellent choice. The 230 will have a slightly harsher idle and will make ~10rwhp more than the 224 from 4500+ without sacraficing hardly any low end power.

You should be be really close to 400rwhp after the TR230 if you are making ~360rwhp now. My car was making 343rwhp a few years back, and with the TR230, a better TB, and tuning, the car did 401rwhp through a cutout (410rwhp with open headers).

Man, a cam is gonna be a sweet addition to your car. I'd reccomend a TR230, it will work very well with your set-up, and with good tuning should put you OVER 400rwhp. The Thunder Racing cam swap kit is great. Has everything you need, cam, springs, pushrods, retainers, and gaskets. Then you also should get a new timing set and oil pump.

I just bought the Thunder racing 227/224 569/563 114 LSA Cam Kit its going in next weekend along with FLP Longtubes,

I would not spend the money on upgraded springs (the kit comes with Comp 918s)hardened Pushrods,All Gaskets needed and a new Stretch Crank Bolt.

Nor would I spend the $ on the aftermarket retainers (unless you go with a MONSTER CAM!)

Leave the rods alone if all you are doing is a Cam Kit.

This is all my opinion,,,, I know the BEST Corvette/Camaro Mechanic in St Louis, He backed up what I am saying here.

My Friend just had this kit installed last weekend and MAN do I like this Cam!!!

Spend your money on stuff that will make you go faster,
Like a Pulley.
