I love driving the car to the track, changing nothing, running great times, and driving back home without touching a thing.....

That's pretty much what I'm looking to do. Drive to the track and run a 10.XX then drive home.

You guys are definitely helping out by letting me know it's a reasonable goal. Now I just have to get home from this damn deployment and get started on it.

now remember, most guys dont see 10's (or at least for very long) on the 10-bolt. it would be wise to get a stronger rear, if you have an auto the a 12 bolt will be fine. if you have rear end killing 6 speed, then a fab 9 is you best bet.

10s dont kill a 10bolt, 60ft times do. Keep it in the mid 1.5x range and you'll be fine. A fresh set of bearings throughout wouldn't hurt either

X2!

This is one of the things that I really got a kick out of this past week. On Wednesday, I drove her 25 miles, ran mid 7s in the 1/8th all night and drove her home without so much as changing a tire. Then on Saturday, I drove her 70 miles, made 5 back to back 11 second passes and then drove her home. Sure beats trailers, changing tires, etc etc etc. In all fairness, I did drop the tire pressure from 22 to 18.

The look on people's faces when you are stuck standing around waiting in the staging lane, and you pop the trunk, push your fold up chairs out of the way, and pull out a cold drink out of the ice chest in the back. Meanwhile they have no AC, deleted this and that, slicks and skinnies, removed the swaybar.....and your racing with an ice chest and 3/4 of a tank of gas Priceless.

I always like when they think they are gonna find a nitros bottle in the back and it winds up being a Bud in the can. I always carry some tools back there too along my little 5 gallon air tank.

I won't have to worry about my rear axle. I'll be building an 8.8" rear with 3.73s for my car. It'll be an explorer rear, with the longer side shortened to fit a short side axle. I think it comes out to being like 3.68" shorter than stock per side. That should allow me to run the wheels I want, and giving the car more of a pro street look. I'll be running a 15x4/15x10 set of wheels. Most likely a set of 305s out back.

I'll also be running a Wolfe 6-point bolt-in roll bar for those who mentioned adding a cage.

Default Update!

Bringing this back from the dead.

Change of plans on the setup. I just bought an engine trans setup that will be going in the car. Setup is listed below.

-6.0 LQ4
-PRC LS6 Stg 2.5 64cc Heads
-TSP 233/239 .595/.603 112LSA Cam
-FAST 102/PTM 92
-SLP Lid
-85mm MAF
-44lb Injectors
-FAST Fuel Rails
-Performabuilt Lv2 4L60e
-Yank SS4000
-Moser 9" w/3.73s

There's a few other things I'm sure, but I can't think of em all. Here's a couple of pics of the setup.

Any thoughts or estimates on what this setup might run at the track?

Any of you guys know what a Camaro weighs? I've been looking around but can't find anything... maybe I'm just retarded or something...

Bump!

Everything I've ordered is at the house. Car is getting put together this weekend. I bought a few more things aside from what I listed a few posts above.

-PTM 102mm Throttle body
-TSP 100mm MAF
-Fast Toys 104mm Lid
-Fast Toys Ram Air kit
-Spohn LCAs and PHR
-Spohn solid engine mounts

Another question I have is wheel/tire related. My rear axle has been narrowed 1" on each side. I'm looking to run a 15x8 on the back along with some 275/50s, I think. I remember reading somewhere that a 5.5" backspacing will work well with a stock rear, so I'm guessing that I'll need a 4.5" for my car? I know it's probably a really simple, and stupid, question but I want to make sure I get the right wheels so I don't make a mistake and order the wrong ones. Just gonna go with the Summit wheels for now.

My 346CI ran 11.1 in a ws6 ta,wich has more weight then a camaro. I had only 1/2 of the air removed, front sway, tube front end,sp-tire and jack. I had good heads/AFR 205 wich gained me alot over a factory ported heads and a g5x3 cam from lg motor sports. kook 1 3/4 headers and a non ported fast 90mm. 90-th body abd a truck 85mm mass. my car is a m6 and i was able to drive the car daily with no issues. the car made 463 hp 414tq through a 12 bolt w/4.11,factory rims and a steel shaft. I would drive to the track, run close to 10's n/a and smoke 99% of these guys with these loud cars they can't drive then go home. Get as much weight out as you can but it can be done.....run 10's on a daily.

I would have milled those heads a tad for some compression but that setup should run 10s in decent weather/tune if everything is working correctly.

Most modded camaros with no weight reduction besides losing things by modding and drag rims is around 3300# or so, sometimes a little bit less sometimes more.. Depends on mods and options.
