Dude I hate to tell you but that's more than carbon build up. Good luck with it and keep us updated. It looks like the ring is probably toast too which I would guess is where the scratches came from.

I looked at it again and I can see where it may be carbon buildup. It's probably the flash from the camera. At first glance it looked like molten aluminum.

Those holes in the piston are intentional, its a budget way of lowering compression to be able to run more boost. Its actually a great idea, I suggest drilling them out bigger though.

itsslow98.....................are you for real because I hope not. Read the thread their not holes its coolant, just a weird angle. Thats not how piston companies lower compression.

Those rings are damaged. Rehone, new rings, and check the ring groove for any kind of burring or galling.. I have seen brand new pistons with all kinds of **** in the ring grooves.

Haha very true.... But clearance is a huge issue and having to drop the trans and trans case it is a pain in the ***.
